My final stop in #CostaRica was the #Caribbean coast. #PuertoViejo, a jungle-backed beach town filled with backpackers, laid-back expats and stylish sun-worshippers. I joined the latter category at Hotel Aguas Claras, a plush beachside hotel in a refurbished Victorian mansion filled with decor by the multimedia-artist owner and imbued with a retro-Havana or Palm Springs vibe. Scroll through for a taste of the digs — I’ve included a peek at my tropical dream home, one of the hotel’s villas, on the last slide.
As #Ramadan wraps up and #Eid al-Fitr is about to be called, I’m keenly missing my adopted #UAE home and everyone in it. #EidMubarak!
Scenes from jungle walks. There’s nowhere I’d rather be.
From dry forest to jungle to cloud rain forest, the road trip from Guanacaste to Bajos del Toro was one of the most scenic I’ve ever done. Not least of which because of the multiple volcano sightings. Making a pit stop in La Fortuna, ultra-tropical Arenal Volcano is popular for adventure tourism. It’s technically active, but currently resting—having last erupted in 1968.
